FORMR is a sculpture studio in Brisbane. We heat, fold and paint every piece by hand, so no two are ever the same. You choose the design, colour and texture. We bring your imagination to life, slowly and properly, as an antidote to fast homewares.

Shaped by human hands
Material is heated and folded by hand, one bend at a time. Making every fold is its own, set in time.

Painted slow, in your colour
We use Resene Paints for your project. Resene’s products are generally rated strongly for colour retention in UV-intensive Southern Hemisphere conditions. Other brands may be available on request.

Premium quality control
Each piece cures properly before it leaves the studio. We check every edge and send you photos before dispatch. Your piece stays on the studio wall to ensure the hanging mounts are installed correctly while it cures.

Packed with your install guide
Securely packed with fixings and a simple step-by-step install guide if applicable. Most pieces hang from a single D-ring, and can be installed without a professional.

Wabi-sabi art

Wabi-sabi is the Japanese way of seeing beauty in the handmade, the uneven and the one-of-a-kind. It is the heart of FORMR. A machine makes a thousand identical things. A hand makes one. The soft ripple in a fold, the trace of a brush, the way light pools differently on every surface: those are the marks of a real person making something for you.

Every sculpture is shaped freehand, so yours may be similar to the photos or render, but never identical.

How long will my piece take?
Ready-to-ship one-of-ones dispatch within a few days. Made-to-order pieces usually take 3 to 8 weeks depending on size and finish. Custom pieces can’t be rushed, so please plan ahead for deadlines and ensure you let us know dates.
Will my sculpture look exactly like the photo?
It may be similar, never identical. Every piece is folded and painted by hand, so the folds, texture and brush marks are unique to yours. That is the wabi-sabi heart of what we make. If you have a unique render, please keep an open mind as it will never be as perfect as a computer generated image.
How do I hang it?
Most pieces are lightweight and hang from a single D-ring, with Velcro tabs for extra support on larger works. Every order includes our step-by-step install guide if needed but we do try to make it as easy as possible. If you are unsure, we highly recommend an art installer.
Can I choose my own colour?
Yes. Choose Resene colour, or ask about gold, chrome and silver leaf finishes. Add your colour in the order notes or send us an enquiry if you require a colour from a different range such as Dulux or Porters as this will require a different preparation process.
Can I pay it off?
Yes. Afterpay and PayPal Pay in 4 are available at checkout on eligible purchases, so you can split your piece into four interest-free payments.
Do you ship large pieces?
We ship Australia-wide. Pieces larger than 1 metre ship in 2 or 3 panels, or as one connected piece crated by an art courier on request. International courier may need an additional quote so please reach out to us
